Key Focus:

We are looking for a creative and inventive engineer to help develop new products for challenging markets.  The Systems Engineer will be a leader and key participant in the early stage of new product development.  This experienced engineer should be a generalist rather than a specialist, with expertise across mechanical, electrical, software and/or firmware disciplines. He/she will serve in a technical lead role on a variety of system design projects involving the evolution and development of microprocessor based electronics systems, mechanical devices and software/firmware enabled devices. The Systems Engineer will conduct research on technologies and product opportunities as necessary to fulfill the scope of work. The scope of responsibility will include concept development, requirements definition, system verification, project planning and managing, analysis and high-level design concepts.

The Systems Engineer is a full-time position in the engineering department and reports to an Engineering Functional Manager. This person will work in partnership with NRG’s engineering and marketing teams to initiate the development of new products. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Work tasks may include elements of:

  • Bring new products and innovative ideas into product development
  • Provide technical leadership on variety of design projects
  • Working with lead engineers to develop systems concepts, architecture design and deriving system specifications
  • Work with the marketing department and the product management team to support business case development work
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on effective and efficient project planning, work breakdown and statement of work generation
  • Carry out design of experiments, qualification testing, data collection and analysis as needed
  • Conduct research of new technologies and make recommendations and present options
  • Create new approaches to solving customer challenges
  • Conduct hands-on prototyping and field testing, as required
  • Engage with suppliers and customers


Engineering Degree with mechanical, electronics, firmware and software experience. 

8-10 years of industry experience preferred.

  • Experience in systems conceptualization, specification and analysis
  • Able to review and optimize designs
  • Demonstrated competence in following engineering process
  • Working knowledge of key engineering disciplines (systems, electrical, mechanical, software, firmware)
  • Demonstrated experience with technical project management
  • Experience with the patent process is desirable
  • Working knowledge of Analog and Digital circuits
  • Working knowledge of Software and Firmware
  • Working knowledge of mechanical solutions
  • Excellent team player in a growing engineering department
  • Independence and self-direction
  • Demonstrated experience bringing innovative ideas to fruition
  • Aptitude to effectively lead teams
  • Ability to interact and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines as well as cross-departmentally throughout the company
